Wipro sacks 600 employees post performance appraisal
India’s largest software services company Wipro have fired hundreds of employees as part of its annual “performance appraisal”.
As per the reports, Wipro fires 600 employees over poor performance, and the number could go as high than 2,000. In December 2016, employee count of wipro is about 1.79 lakh.
As per Wipro company Such layoffs are due to its “rigorous performance appraisal process” so as to align its workforce with business objectives, strategic priorities of the company, and client requirements..
“This proper and comprehensive performance appraisal process triggers a series of actions such as mentoring, retraining and upskilling. The performance appraisal may also lead to the differentiate some employees from the company and these numbers vary from year to year,” Wipro added.
As per the information from some Wipro employees, It is likely to sack more people from the managerial roles and would reduce its employee headcount by more than 30% due to automation and international onsite work policies.
