Windmill power generation resumed and no power cuts
Due to widespread rain throughout Tamil Nadu, demand for electric power is said to have reduced by 2500 Further, 2000 MW of power is available daily through windmill generation. So, the TANGEDCO officials have informed that there would not be an issue of the power cut.
They explained that daily requirement of power in Tamil Nadu state is from 14500 MW to 15000 MW. At present its possible to generate upto 18000 MW through thermal and Hydropower stations. These power plants are not generating full capacity. Daily generation of power is said to be from 14000 MW to 15000 MW.
At this situation there was a sudden stoppage of power generation from windmills. Due to issues such as coal shortage, maintenance/repair works and more., power generation reduced. Due to this power shortage experienced on 18th and 19th September. Thermal power stations resumed power generation and demand on power mas met. Apart from this central government agreed to supply additional coal to Tamil Nadu. At the 1st Phase, 1.60 Lakhs Meric tons of coal reached Tamil Nadu.
At this situation they have widespread rains throughout Tamil Nadu during last few days and demand for electric power which has reduced by 2500 MW. As wind power increased southern districts of Tamil nadu, wind power generation has resumed.
Presently, windmill power generation is 2000 MW per day. So, this is said to reduce the prospects of any power cuts.
