Water tank lorries strike for demanding water in Chennai

Northeast Monsoon rainy season failure, the major reservoris capacity at Chennai has gone down to 13 percent.

In this drastic situation, MWSSB has said to been intitating servers activites at cost of Rs 60 crores to meet up the demand for water at Chennai resident. Task of exploring new water is on to progress.
Drinking water at Chennai was earlier for 85 Crore Litres per day and has now reduced to about 55 Crores Litres per day. Due to sufficient pressure is not available in the low capacity at present, pipe/tap facility has also been reduced.
In this situation, MWSSB has also undertaken the task of setting up plastic storage tanks at different places and distributing it to the public. Currently operating strenght of about 520 water tanker lorries os insufficient, MWSSB has decied to hire more water tanker lorries to meet up the demand.
 
MWSSB officials explained up that they have planned to hire an additional 100 water tanker lorries. Currently about 4200 trips are done every day. Now its said that are planning to increase about 6500 trips per day. Inorder to store drinking water supplied by water tanker lorries, plastic storage tanks are all set up in about 10500 locations. There is said to plan to set up an additional 660 platic tanks. 90 plastic tanks are said to set up. 950 plastic tanks are under repair will be set right.
