Vegetable prices decreased in Chennai
Increase in vegetables from various states and districts have been increased. This has now led to decrease in vegetable prices in retail and wholesale markets in Chennai city. As per traders this decrease in prices of vegetables is only because of heavy rainfall with good harvesting. Sizable number of lorries transporting vegetables to rain battered Kerala returned to Koyambedu market due to bad roads in the state.
As per a trader, about a month back tomato was said to be sold at Rs 20 and now it has decreased to Rs 8. The prices of other vegetables like drumstick, brinjal, cabbage, radish and beans have reduced by 50 %.The trader also spoke about how the number of Lorries coming to Koyambedu has risen to 400 as many lorries have stopped plying to Kerala state.
