Vegetable price increased in Koyambedu

Chennai Koyambedu market receives many loads of vegetables from various parts of the country including Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and others. Price of veggies including onions, tomatoes, etc were very much low around the December 2015 ending days.

On Saturday, 2nd January 2016, tomatoes, onions, lady’s finger and many other vegetables have a hike in price. The price ranged from Rs 5 to Rs 20 per kilogram. At the wholesale market, tomato was priced about Rs 18 per kg last week. It’s now sold for about Rs 32. Carrot which was sold for Rs 55 is now sold for Rs 80. Because of sudden rates in wholesale market, small level retailers have also hike the rates of vegetables up to 40 percent
