Tremors felt in Northern states
Many northern countries including Chandigarh, Punjab, Haryana and Himachal Pradesh, Delhi were marked by a moderate intensity earthquake on Wednesday.
Director of Meteorological Office stated that an earthquake measuring 6.2 on Ritcher scale hit Northern India at 1230 hrs and its epicenter was at the Afghanistan-Tajikistan border. People in Chandigarh also felt the tremors, which lasted for few seconds.
The quake also shook various regions of Himachal Pradesh, including Shimla, Solan, Dharamsala, Kangra, Palampur, Bilaspur, Una, Hamirpur and Mandi. In Jammu and Kashmir, panic-stricken people rushed out of their homes and work places after the tremor.
