TASMAC Shops and Bars closed for three days on January

An official announcement of district collector of Chennai, V. Anbuselvan orders the TASMAC bars and shops are to be closed for three days in the month of January.
Bars and TASMAC shops were closed on January 15, 26 and 31 by the Government run shops of liquor, directed to the Thiruvalluvar day, Republic day and the Vallalar Ninaivu Naal respectively. Collector statement clearly mentioned that announcement violation will face strict action against shops that fails to follow directed orders.
Greater Chennai Corporation ordered a closure of meat shops on Thiruvalluvar Day refraining the city from slaughtering animals. This rule is said to be applicable for  the supermarkets and the commercial complexes selling processed meats.
This government is highly criticized as its indirectly violates freedom of food selection and cultural traditions by general public. There are many meat associations will open their shops on Thiruvalluvar Day denying governor’s order which is one of the main reason for state’s ban on meat selling on Thiruvalluvar day.
