Sugar subsidy cancellation is not for Tamil Nadu
At Tamil Nadu under Public Distribution System, its said that wheat, sugar, rice and many other essential commodities are not said to be sold through many ration shops at subsidized rates. Sugar is said to be sold for about Rs 13.50 per kg for green and white colour card holders. About 35000 tonnes are sugar are required at Tamil Nadu for distribution through PDS. Central government gives subsidy at the rate of Rs 18.50 for 10000 tonnes. Expenses of sugar is been done by Tamil Nadu government.
At this situation, central government has decided to stop sugar subsidy in each and every states. Now situation has risen up at Tamil Nadu government to bear the entire expenses of sugar. This doesnt cause financial burden to government.
Official of PDS stated that cancellation of sugar subsidy by central government has not yet confirmed. Its still said to be under consideration. Central government has given about Rs 18.50 crores towards the sugar subsidy. In case if the central government is said to stop the subsidy then Tamil Nadu government has to bear all the entire expenses.
