Reason behind ATM to be functional
A nationwide shutdown for two days, as all banks and ATMS are supposed to make available of new currency notes of 500 and 2000 denominations from today. Most people are seen standing at ATMs for long queues in ATMs with disappointed faces due to many ATMs were not operational. There were question arises why are ATMs still shut down and why are they still offline?
First ATM cassettes need to be configured so that it can hold the incoming Rs 100 notes and to be made to issue the new notes of Rs 500 and Rs 2000 denominations. For those of
who do not know what cassettes are, those are boxes fit into the ATM for dispensing cash to customers.
In most ATMs in India,as there are four types of cassettes to be used each with type of denomination of cash which depends on currency type.
Most of ATMs which have got cassettes only to hold up of Rs 100 and Rs 500 and Rs 1000 notes. Hence technicians need to be sent to all ATM centers in order to make as desired change, as per the Managing Director of NCR Corporation, Navroze Dastur.
