Rainfall in Tamil Nadu to continue
Southwest Monsoon season doesn’t give lot of rainfall activity over Tamil Nadu state. State still managed to receive normal Monsoon conditions thus we can say that overall performance of Monsoon as rains stayed near normal. At the end of August, Tamil Nadu was rain deficient by only 8%.
Even Monsoon has gone weak over Pan India and rainfall activity is confined to few pockets. Tamil Nadu was been receiving good rainfall, as a cyclonic circulation is over Andhra Pradesh and trough is from this system at Tamil Nadu.
Last three days, heavy to very heavy rainfall were witnessed over many parts of state. Chennai has only observed moderate rain showers. 3-digit rainfall to tune upto 108mm occurred at the city of Thanjavur. At the last 24 hours, rainfall was excess by 89%.
At the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Sunday, Tiruvallur recorded 68 mm rainfall followed by Chennai 46 mm,
Dharmapuri 43 mm, Yercaud 39 mm, Thiruttani 32 mm, Aarogyavaram 22 mm and Tirupati 15 mm. Further we expect a system to develop in Bay of Bengal, Rainfall activity is said to continue over many parts of state during next 24 hours. After 24 hours, rainfall to reduce significantly.
