Prices of vegetables increases in Koyambedu market

Now the intensity of heat starts to rise in the summer at the neighboring states, as the arrival of vegetables is said to have reduced quantity. This was led to an increase in the rate of vegetables.

Yesterday, details of price s of vegetables in Rs. Per kg in Chennai Koyambedu wholesale vegetable market:

Beans – 40, broad beans – 25, lady’s finger (okra) and bitter gourd – 20, beetroot – 15, green chilli – 14, snake gourd – 12, tomato – 10, onion – 13, sambar (small) onion – 30, brinjal – 15, potato – 22, radish – 12, cabbage – 7, carrot – 16, and drumstick – 18.

At this regard, Koyambedu Vegetable Traders’ Association members explained that increasing heat intensity and summer rains, arrival of vegetables reduced in quantity. In shortfall at the arrival quantity, prices of vegetables trend to increase.
