Pongal special buses from today
Special advance booking counters which are set up at Chennai Koyambedu Outstation Bus terminus. State transport minister inaugurated commencement of booking counters.
Special buses is said to be operated from Pongal festival from Chennai and many other places from today on 11th January 2019. some traffic diversion which has made in order to reduce traffic congestion.
State Minister Vijayabhaskar shared up the information that the government which was been taken well initiatives to operate special buses from various places for benefit for public. As per, 26 advance booking counters which have been setup in Koyambedu terminus. Including booking centres Tambaram (MEPZ)-2, Madhavaram-1, and Poonamallee -1, a total of 30 advance booking counters have been set up.
These special buses said to start operating from 11th January to 14th January. Advance booking counters is said to function from today until 14th January. A holiday was been declared on 14th January by state government. Thus, a large number of travelling public is said to be expected, additional buses are set to be operated. Total of about 14263 special buses including 5263 from Chennai are said to be operated.
From above, 10445 buses are said to be operated to many other places. Thus, a total of 24708 buses are set to be operated. In order to reduce traffic problem, buses are now grouped at various categories and operated. For example, all buses leaving from Andhra is said to be operated from Madhavaram. All buses moving through ECR is said to start from KK Nagar. Buses from Kumbakonam and Thanjavur is said to start from Tambaram (MEPZ).
Buses proceed to Thiruvannamalai via Tindivanam will start from the Tambaram Railway Station Bus terminus. Buses going through Vellore, Hosur, Krishnagiri, and Arcot will start from Poonamallee. For all other places and southern Tamil Nadu districts buses is said to start from Chennai Koyambedu outstation bus terminus.
Some diversions at the traffic routes are been made in order to reduce traffic problems. As per, a special bus station are been set up at Urapakkam.Passengers who have booked tickets to start from here. For many passengers travelling by cars are instructed to avoid the Tambaram to Perungalathur route and go through
Thirukkazhukkundram-Chengalpattu or Sriperumpudhur route.
Arrangements are made to operate special buses after Pongal festival conclusion to facilitate return journeys
Last year, a total of 4.92 Lakhs passengers had travelled or the Pongal occasion to their native places. Revenue of Rs, 17.47 Crores was earned.
