New tech equipment to cure Asthma in Apollo
Apollo Hospitals in Chennai is famous for its high tech equipment and eminent patient care and people go to this hospital for their health issues. Now this Apollo Hospitals has added further new tech equipment. Recently in this popular hospital a procedure named ‘Bronchial Thermoplasty’ was done for a patient named Komala aged 66. Its noted that the woman had this procedure done on her as she was suffering from asthma for the past 40 years. Due to this health reasons there were many difficulties in her life as she was breathless too.
This procedure conducted for asthma issue might be good news for people who are suffering from this health problem as for many years these asthma affected people depend on powerful steroids as well as inhalers. The side effects from the above mentioned are depression and thinning of bones in the body is known.
Its important note that bronchoscope was guided by a doctor into the windpipe of the patient which helped the doctors to get view of the air passages. Heating up the air passage upto 65 degrees by means of catheter was carried out and therapeutic radio frequency energy is said to have utilized for about 10 seconds so that muscle at the airways is said to have shrunk and dont swell at the time of asthma in breathing issues.
According to pulmonologist Dr Narasimhan of Apollo Hospitals, airways are no longer prone to constriction. He also spoke about how the patient would hereafter have few attacks than before.
Dr Narasimhan further explained that this procedure would not be able to cure this asthma issue but it could give great relief for those who could not manager this issue with drugs.
