Modernized bus depots to commence by MTC
In order to move towards enhanced facilities to commuters, modernized bus depot to set up by Metropolitan Transport Corporation.
These works are right now carried out in phased manner. About five main depots are to be picked up as the first phase of the project. As per MTC official people, about total 32 depots are present at the city and suburbs of almost half of them don’t have even preliminary amenities like water or toilet.
At the monsoon times, there will be very irksome times because of waterlogged depots. One of the bus commuters states that he travel often in MTC buses without drinking water supply in any of bus depot. There are lots of passengers preferring MTC buses, it’s important for MTC officials to take up necessary measures to renovate depots to give needed basic facilities.
When once the modernized depots are ready which are more convenient for all commuters. This is not just for commuters but also for depot employees complained about lack of enough facilities at depots. It’s said that one has to spend on their own money to get water. There is no toilet facility because MTC staff members and commuters are much cornered to pee at open locations stated by a depot time keeper.
Officials from the MTC affirm the renovation works. The depots are now inspected and a proposal which will soon be sent across to the government in order to begin with the construction works at 5 select depots at the first phase, they add. Regarding the cost of the project will be known after preparing blueprint.
