Minimum bus fare Rs 5 announced by MTC
Yesterday public experienced Chennai Metro Transport buses operating with a minimum bus fare of Rs 5. When they started wondering why this already in practice, public came to be aware of this new announcement by MTC. So far, no one has taken responsibility for rising diesel/petrol prices. When appeal made someone had to reduce this, they pointed out prevailing dollar price and dont do any further
During January bus fares revised by Tamil Nadu State government after gap of 5 years. There was mixed response from public. With present trend on ever increasing price of petrol or diesel, public is exposed to extreme hardships to increase in rates for share auto, prices of essential commodities and more.
At this situation, MTC buses started operating with a poster of Rs 5 as fare. This MTC has met with huge popular response from public. There were been a remarkable increase in number of passengers in MTC to be up by Rs 75000. With these positive results, MTC now decided to operate an additional 300 buses at the city.
At the same time, the public put up a demand that the distance for the minimum fare of Rs. 5 are to be increased. This is under consideration and review. At a short time, another ticker ‘minimum fare Rs.7 is also to be displayed.
