Mango leaves a sour taste in Hyderabad
It was not at all a fruitful season for mango lovers in the Hyderabad city as they yield poor that led to the shortage of some of the favorite mango varieties like dasheri and himayat. Even the mangoes came to the market field yield chemicals.
It is said that last year along with banganapalli, dasheri and himayat mangoes were quicly available. Ramnik Kaur, a housewife said that this year, she struggled a lot to find the mago varieties in the market. It is said that carbides are added to ripen the process made available mangoes less sweet or sometimes sour and gives an unpleasant aftertaste. Bharathi B, a government college lecturer said that the mangoes bought from malls and supermarkets are high in price, no color and no flavors too.
Citizens said that the mangoes bought from the supermarkets and malls are perished sooner that directly bought from farms. Arundhati Ann, a landscaper said that to choose organic mangoes that has no carbides. Mango price ranged between Rs 30 and Rs 50 per kg last year which went up to between Rs 30 and Rs 50 per kg last year. Till last year, mangoes were available till mid-June. This year due to inappropriate weather, the king of fruit was on the stalls was only till May end. Eklavya Patnaik, an IT employee said there was no mangoes after May-end.
