KSRTC Bus Catches Fire Near Poonamallee. KSRTC Airavat A/C bus coming from Bengaluru caught fire near Poonamallee, Chennai on Saturday(12th Aug 2017). Passengers escaped from that bus with out hurt after they noticed smoke from the back side of bus.

The KSRTC Airavat A/C bus, carrying 42 passengers, departed from Bengaluru on Friday night. At around 8 a.m., when the bus was reached Poonamallee junction connecting Nazarethpet and Thirumazhisai, a passenger noticed the some smoke from back side of the bus. Immediately the driver stopped the bus and the passengers ran towards the exit.

The incident created panic among the passangers and the people who were moving on the road during peak hour on saturday. Water tenders were pressed into service from Poonamallee, Avadi and Ambattur. Further investigation is on.
