Kings XI Punjab VS Rising Pune match result
Murali Vijay and Manan Vohra displayed elegant strokeplay as Kings XI Punjab opened up their account this season with a convincing win against MS Dhoni led Rising Pune Super Giants. It was indeed a classic display of batting from both the V’s Vijay and Vohra who opened the innings for Punjab. While Vohra was aggressive in parts, Vijay stabilized the innings throughout and even clubbed two huge sixes. After Rising Pune won the toss and chose to bat on an orthodox Mohali track, Sandeep Sharma removed Ajinkya Rahane. Even when du Plessis batted well wickets kept on falling at the other end. Pietersen, Perera and Dhoni didnt troubled the scorers much as they went back cheaply. Steve Smith assisted du Plessis in yet another 50 score for the protean. Mohit Sharma was the pick of the bowlers for Kings XI as he fared with figures of 3/23 in his quota. Later Kings XI came in with a target of 153 ahead of them and the opening pair had a rocking 97 run stand before Vohra fell to Murugan Ashwin. The leggy picked up wickets but Dhoni’s ploy didnt work towards the end as Maxwell had other plans. In the end it was Kings XI who didnt disappoint their home crowd. Manan Vohra was declared the man of the match.

SPD Smith 38(26) S Sharma 2/23
M Vijay 53(49) M Ashwin 3/36
