Kamal Haasan to lead protest against Sterlite plant in Tuticorin
Actor turned politician Kamal Haasan which will lead a protest against Sterlite Industries copper plant in Tuticorin on 1st April. Local people is said to have been protesting against the plant since its allegedly polluting the area.
Kamal when speaking to reports in Chennai stated that we cannot allow a Bhopal-like tragedy to happen in Tuticorin.”
The Makkal Needhi Maiam founder stated that the Centre is said to establish a Cauvery water management board if it was keen to do so. “Like several others, I believe that Centre is delaying due to upcoming assembly election in Karnataka, he stated.
He stated that Prime Minister Narendra Modi if wanted to do it. “Sir, you can do it, if you have the will do it so. Please do it,” he appealed to Modi.
Kamal has fixed an appointment with Tamil Nadu chief minister Edappadi K Palaniswami to discuss the issue.
