Jallikattu starts at Palamedu

Today morning, Jallikattu started at Palamedu. Palamedu is about 25 kms away from Madurai which is also famed for Jallikattu. Many bulls from southern districts is said to participate in Jallikattu at the occasion of Pongal.
Jallikattu is taking place after 2 years, people said to have flooded to Palamedu. Due to this, security has increased up. Nearly 2000 policemen are been for security at Palamedu. 850 bulls and about 1607 bull tamers to participate at Jallikattu. Medical checkup was also done for bulls for bull tamers at early morning. 
In the presence of Madurai Collector K. Veera Raghava Rao, bull tamers took oath. After offering Pongal to Manjal Malai Swamy, bulls are being released through entry point(vaadivaasal).
Madurai Collector K. Veera Raghava Rao waived the flag and started the Jallikattu. Winners were said to be given prizes such as mopeds, bikes and cycle.
