IPL T20 Match No. 5 Kolkata Knight Riders vs Mumbai Indians

KKR VS MI IPL T20 Match No. 5

Mumbai Indians won a crucial toss in their second outing of the season and elected to bowl first. Kolkata left out Sunil Narine in which was a strange move from their side. Skipper Gautam Gambhir and Robin Uthappa opened the innings for KKR only to find Robin Uthappa leaving early off Mitchell McLenaghan. Then came Manish Pandey at No.3. Pandey and Gambhir made time tough for the Mumbai Indians bowlers as they churned runs at will. Gambhir brought up his 50 in the 12th over. Manish Pandey was the aggressor of the two. Mumbai fielded Tim Southee in place of Lendl Simmons and their 4 foreign players include Jos Butler, Kieron Pollard, Mitchell McLenaghan and Tim Southee.

Soon later Manish Pandey brought up his half century in the 13 th over catching up with his skipper in just 26 deliveries. Pandey n Gambhir soon brought up their 100 partnership and looked steering KKR into a commanding position when Harbhajan came into the attack and sent back Manish Pandey back in to the pavillion. Pandey made a quick fire 52 off 29 balls. This dismissal provided Andrew Russel to take charge. He launched 2 huge sixes and went hard at the bowlers at brisk pace. Gambhir provided maximum strike to Russel for the cause. At a time when Russel was hitting all along the park, Mitchell McLenaghan was launched into his final spell and he cleaned up Russel with his off stump flying for a well made cameo of 36 off 17 with 4 huge sixes. Then Came Yusuf Pathan only to be troubled up nicely as he was off rhythm as usual.

Finally KKR finished up at in their 20 Overs. Gambhir was dismissed by Pandya in the 19th over with the score reading 170/4, as he anchored the innings with a well made 64 of 52 balls. He topped the Orange cap table as well. The last over went crazy as Yusuf Pathan was lazy between the wickets which accounted for the fall of Colin Munro who was pretty busy between the wickets. The target for Mumbai Indians now is 188 as KKR finished at 187/5.
