Healthy Sooji Dhokla

Ingredients for the dhokla

1 cup (sooji)

1/2 cup milk

1 cup yoghurt

1 inch grated ginger

2-3 green finely chopped green chilies or made into a paste

1/2 tsp turmeric

Salt to taste

1 tsp salt

2 tsp oil for greasing the dhokla dish

For Tadka

1 tbsp oil

1 tsp mustard seeds

8-10 curry leaves

2 dried red chillies

Method

Mix semolina and yoghurt together and keep it aside for about 30 mins.

After 30 mins,you can add milk little by little to form a smooth paste of consistency similar to dosa batter.

Into the mixture, add 2 tsp oil, ginger and chilli paste and tumeric to the mixture and mix well

Boil the water for steamer.

Now add little oil to the batter, mix well and pour into dhokla plates.Switch on the steamer and steam it for about 10 mins on high flame. You prefer a microwave but if steaming in microwave then you have to steam it for about 5 mins on high powers

After completing the steaming process, remove the dhokla plate and allow them to cool. After the dhokla gets cool then cut into squares

For preparing tadka:

Heat oil and add mustard seeds. After the mustard seeds crackle, add some  curry leaves and red chillies.

Pour the tadka mixture over the dhoklas. Serve the dhokla onto a serving plate and serve hot with coconut chutney or green chutney
