Gurugram imposes Section 144 in and around movie halls showing Padmaavat
Gurugram’s District Magistrate announced Section 144 to be implemented within a 200 meter radius around movie halls untill January 28th. Movie is scheduled for release on January 25th.
Planning to watch ‘Padmaavat’ in Gurugram, plan to move in smaller groups. Theaters showing the movie will have prohibitory orders under Section 144 of the CrPC imposed around them. Announcement was made by authorities after Supreme Court ordered state government against banning the movie and ensure high security for movie halls showing the movie.
The imposition of Section 144 prohibits is due to the persence of persons carrying firearms and many other articles capable of causing injury, exhibiting placards and raising slogans. On Monday, Section 144 is said to have imposed in Uttar Praesh’s Gautam Budh Nagar includes Noida and order is said to continue in effect of next two months. This came across after police faced to control the protest over the release of Padmaavat movie.
On Suday, Noida witnessed multiple protests. They started at Grand Venice Mall, Greater Noida later spread to Noida-Greater Noida Expressway and DND toll plaza. Hundreds of Karni Sena members, a Rajput output vandalised the Delhi Noida Direct (DND) Toll Plaza. Delhi Police also maintaining high security at the movie theaters around the city which are scheduled to show the movie.
Earlier this week, the Supreme Court has allowed the release country wide on January 25th. Serveral organisations are protesting against the release and have warned exhibitors of serious consequences if they screen the movie.
