Free MTC Bus for Senior citizens at day and night time

According to the order from Tamil Nadu CM Jayalalithaa, the senior citizens can travel in city buses free from 24th February. Senior citizens who want to avail this can go download the application from the MTC website: and register for availing free bus travel in all MTC buses.

Application forms are also available in MTC Bus Terminus and Depots also. Filled applications can be handed over at any bus stops or depots in 42 locations across the city and can get the free bus pass card and 10 tokens per month.

At the time of travel in the bus, they have to show the free bus pass Identity Card with photograph and give the token to conductor and get free bus-tickets from him. It’s said that these have to be shown even when ticket checkers ask. Free token will be valid only for a particular month as printed in it. If not used within that month then it becomes invalid.

Free Bus-pass identity card and tokens will be available at all bus terminus and depots in 42 locations all over Chennai City from 8.30 AM till 1.30 PM and from 2.00 PM till 7.00 PM and senior citizens can go and collect after submitting the application forms.

For age verification and residence verification, a proof of copies of Aadhar Card, Voter ID, Driving Licence, Ration Card or School certificate can be attached while submitting the form

2 passport size photographs of 5 cm X 4 cm have to be attached with the application too. It’s said that senior citizens can avail this free travel services in all MTC buses including night services except on AC buses.
