Dandruff is said to be caused by oils in the scalp which is caused the cells to clump together and form white flakes. It may be caused by dry, itchy scalp and even as an allergic reaction to some products. Shampoos claim to make you go flake free. There are five Ayurveda treatments to get rid of dandruff. These methods are said to be safe and inexpensive and said to be highly effective as well on to the regular use.  Apple Cider Vinegar:

Apple cider vinegar is a wonder product. If you don’t own bottle then its suggestion to buy one now because it provides a multitude of benefits. For the dandruff cure, take 3 parts of water and one part of the vinegar and mix it well. Apply the mixture on to your scalp in massaging motions and leave it for 15-20 minutes. Wash your hair after this. And don’t worry, the smell of the vinegar wouldn’t remain.

Castor Oil:

Castor oil has anti fungal properties, massaging the oil that help to fight the infection and improve blood circulation which reduces the appearance of dandruff. Keep the oil on for an hour or so and then wash and condition as usual.

Yogurt, Lemon & Honey Mask:

Yogurt normally has antibacterial properties and lemon is said to get rid of unnecessary oils present in the scalp. Added honey in mix provides moisture and shine, as the yogurt and lemon could dry out the hair. Massage the mixture on to your hair and scalp and keep it on to your hair for an hour then wash it off with a mild shampoo.



Neem is used for antifungal and blood-purifying properties which have been used for generations to treat a host of aliments.  For dandruff cure, boil some neem leaves in water and then strain them to allow the water to cool down well. Use this after shower rinse.


Lemon Juice:

If you don’t have any time for a full blown mask, plain lemon juice also works wonders. Just massage the lemon juice on to your scalp , approximately two tablespoons would be required. Make sure not to keep the juice for more than 30 minutes as this could strip away the scalp off as the oils are important. Wash and condition after 15-20 minutes. There you go, these are the easy, ultimate home remedies for those annoying flakes.
