It’s said that state government has not fulfilled their long pending demands, Tamil Nadu Electricity Board workers owing allegiance to CITU, BMS and many other trade unions stated that they will go on strike on 16th February.
We made strike announcement long back and government too invited us for a talks. During the tripartite discussion between EB higher officials, labour welfare officials and representatives of trade unions promised that an agreement regarding hike will be arrived on February 12th.
However, the Tamil Nadu government has now only announced an interim hike. Its said that talks scheduled for today are being delayed because of various administrative reasons. Hence, we have decided to go ahead with the strike from today, they stated.

As per TNEB CITU head G S Rajendran, “the administration has not finalised the wage agreement and it was due in January 2016. The management and unions are said to have agreed to the 2.57 per cent hike in wages but the government has not yet announced it officially.”

The strike of EB workers is expected to have an impact on the power supply. However, government sources stated that an amicable solution will be found and uninterrupted electricity supply would be ensured.
