Earthquake in Salem with 3.3 Richter scale
Sunday last morning was quite unusual for Salem people to face a mild earth quake scaling at 3.3 Richter scale of reading. No damage happens to lives or buildings were announced as of now.
Omalur, Kadayampatti and Tharamangalam are the primary areas of Salem where the earth quake was experienced in the Sunday morning at 7.45 A.M. People were rushed to the streets after they felt the earth’s vibrating shake all over these localities.
Reports from Indian Metrological Department released that the earthquake coordinate as follows:
“Earthquake of Magnitude: 3.3, Time and Date: 22-07-2018, 07:47:31 IST, Latitude: 11.6 N & Longitude: 78.1 E, Depth: 15 Km, Region: Salem District, Tamil Nadu”
There were several rumors among people regarding earthquake cause. One of the main rumors is that water level in Mettur dam is the main cause earth quake. Tamil Nadu Weatherman, one of the natural calamities and climate expert reported on FAcebook that earth quake of Salem can’t be connected with dam’s quantity overflow. Several times at the past of dam marked up with maximum quantity point and so tremors of region can now be attributed to natural occurrence.
