Chennai to remain cool for the coming week
City has been cool due to land breeze from northern parts of country. On Sunday, maximum temperature was 30.6 degrees Celsius.
Officials from Regional Meteorological Department in Chennai stated that the drop in temperature is set to last for next week as north east monsoon is likely is said to remain inactive. There is greatest prevalence of north winds over easterlies which causing the temperature to dip. Satellite images suggest some amount of clouding over various parts of Tamil Nadu during the night, but not enough to bring rainfall. Clouding during the night will trap heat escaping from the earth surface and keep the night temperature high. Even moisture in the atmosphere acts as clouds in trapping heat.
