Chennai rains to stay for another 24 hrs
When predicted by Skymet Weather, Chennai received few rain spells at last 24 hours. In fact at the adjoining regions are also recorded to have some rain spells. At the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Tuesday, Nungambakkam observatory of Chennai recorded on 11 mm rains. In same span of time, Meenambakkam observatory witnessed 3 mm of rains.
Rains occurred due to feeble trough was extended from West Central Bay of Bengal to Tamil Nadu coast. As per weathermen, expect Chennai rains to appear isolated pockets about 24 hours only. After that Weather will become dry. These rains failed to bring any relief from warm and sultry weather. As monsoon rains occurred during night hours, thereafter it didn’t affect day temperatures.
During time of year, rain activity usually occurring at late afternoon and evening hours mainly. Thus, weather over city is to be warm, uneasy and humid. Maximum temperature is said to settle between 35°C and 36°C. Minimum settle between 27°C and 28°C.
During Southwest Monsoon season, Tamil Nadu including Chennai doesn’t record much rain which will falls under rain shadow area. City is said to record 60% rainfall during Northeast Monsoon season spans from October to December.
