Chennai bank robbery Suspect arrested in Nepal

Nepal police on Thursday has arrested a security guard in connection with robbery at Indian Overseas Bank’s Virugambakkam branch in Chennai. Security guard, Shabi Lal, is a Nepalese national. He was been missing since the bank robbery came to light on Monday morning.

He was been arrested after Chennai city police is said to have sought the help of Interpol through CBI. The Nepal police refused to hand over Shabi Lal to Chennai police that there was no extradition treaty said to be between India and Nepal to transfer suspects involved at criminal cases.

Some Chennai police is said to have camping on India-Nepal border were trying to negotiate with Nepal police through CBI officials to get a specific custody of suspect. They stated that to wait by the senior police officer.

Shabi Lal is said to have arrested from near his native village. Interpol officials informed the CBI about the apprehension of the accused. Shabi Lal his son Dillu lal and four other people stole gold, ruby jewellery, diamond worth at least 40 lakh from two lockers at IOB branch. KK Nagar police registered a case. It’s said that the police have detained a car from Bangalore and two security guards are employed in two buildings at Anna Nagar and Ramapuram, for allegedly helping Shabi Lal. The two detained security guards are Nepalese nationals.
