Badrinath Ki Dulhania Hindi movie review and ratings
CAST: Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan
DIRECTION: Shashank Khaitan
DURATION: 2 hours 19 minutes
Badrinath is looking for his bride. Vaidehi is looking for an independent life. Together they break with tradition and redefine the role.
Badrinath Ki Dulhania is with full social issues handled cautiously with bedazzled Dharma gloves but handled is the operative word here.
Sets all are in small towns such as Kota and Jhansi where as evident as daylight of the movie focuses on Badrinath (Varun Dhawan), a sahukar’s son in pursuit of a bride. He spots Vaidehi (Alia Bhatt) at a wedding and starts following her. Vaidehi refuses to bown down to any social pressure and succumb to marry nurtured by an IV drip of dowry. Turns out to be the mutant small town girl with many actual opinions and ambitions and most important a spine.
Her character is said to be the backstone of this story. She is real and she’s pushed down to get back up and she protects her dreams and for once gets emotionally manipulated. Her father’s heart condition is said to be damned.
Vaidehi movie checks all the main boxes of gender issues of feminism, consent and many more. The story is treated so stylistically that loses heat.
This story is full of climax through two and half hours in finding out what you already know will get uncomfortable.
Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt together are said to be the best thing that happened on screen. Dhawan as Badri is adorable. Some scenes pull off impressively.
RSVP Yes to this wedding; it’s grand, with good music, great people and delicious food for thought.
