8 Killed in Cyclone Ockhi

A deep depression in the Bay of Bengal near Tamil Nadu has turned into a cyclone named Ockhi. 8 people died in coastal Kerala and Tamil Nadu. More than 90 fishermen missing as a depression above the Bay of Bengal turned into a cyclonic storm.

As per the report Cyclone Ockhi, meteorologists say, is heading for Lakshadweep and is unlikely to make landfall in India. Currently Cyclone Ockhi is hovering 130 km west-southwest of Trivandrum, Kerala. More than seven districts Schools in tamilnadu and kerala have been closed.

In Kanyakumari and Thoothukudi districts of Tamil Nadu, strong winds destroyed more than 500 trees, snapped power lines and damaged settlements close to the sea. Heavy showers are likely to continue for the next 24 hours in both tamilnadu and kerala state.
