43000 City Autos to get GPS Meters with Panic buttons
There is now decision by government in considering the installation of Digital Meters in the City Auto Rickshaws were pending for the past five years. Failure in distributing the mandatory meters and also drivers resisting to implement the rule for several financial reasons added up to the delay for these five long years.
Now government is all set up to install the GPs enabled digital meters in 43000 autos running inside the city for public use in various spots and Auto stands. This digital meter must have an inbuilt printer and panic buttons.
Main purpose of panic button is for assuring safety for people hiring the Autos for transportation. When panic button is pressed the nearest Police station which will get signal and then through GPS the vehicle will be monitored and rounded for further verification.
It’s said that a live demo was done from Anna Nagar by Transport Department testing the device with vehicle for both estimation of readings and tracking like fare, distance and also for bill generating. Printer was imposed along with meter is now programmed to calculate the basic fare and travelled distance to give a perfect total amount of fare as a manual output. At this way all transactions and fare price for Autos are been normalized and made generalized for public.
This announcement is now warm welcome from the people who are literally tired of getting charged highly from City Autos. This system works like a model similar to app based transportation adopted in Uber, Ola etc from the State Government.
